This is where I will begin my 84 Day Journey of Intermittent Fasting. It will start on February 19, 2013 and last until May 13, 2013 which is approximately 12 weeks that I will be Intermittent Fasting.
I’m going to add a blog post every single day for the next 84 days talking about how my day went, what I ate, if I worked out, how I feel, and etc. I’m not only doing this for me, but I am doing it for you guys out there struggling to lose weight and stay committed to a diet. I am one of those guys right now but hopefully I will have gained substantial will power over the course of this.
I have been struggling with dieting and weight loss for quite some time now. I was very muscular and very healthy until about March of 2012 when my mom got sick. My mom ended up passing away in July of last year and I have been having the hardest time dealing with my health. I also went from working inside a warehouse standing all day to sitting in an office.
Now I have everything else under control, but my one vice is eating. I am an emotional eater and my lack of working out consistently for over a year has made me gain some weight. It isn’t all about appearance to me, it’s about feeling good every single day. I have finally reached the point where I feel like crap on a daily basis and need things like caffeine just to make it through the day. It is time for a change and the time is now! At the end of my journey I am going to post a Before & After picture that will hopefully inspire you to get your life on the right track.
What is Intermittent Fasting? 5:2?
Intermittent fasting (IF) is a pattern of eating that alternates between periods of fasting (usually meaning consumption of water and sometimes low-calorie drinks such as black coffee) and non-fasting. One specific plan involving this full-day fasting, popularized by the BBC2 Horizon documentary Eat, Fast & Live Longer in August 2012, is the 5:2 diet, with two fast days per week. [credit]
I decided to go with the 5:2 Ratio of Intermittent Fasting just because it seems to be the one that will work with me and my schedule. I’m going to be fasting 2 days out of the week, Monday and Thursday. Now for the 5 days of the week that I am going to be eating I am going to be eating very clean. I’m keeping my calories very low, and my carbs extremely low. I’m actually going to try and attempt to only eat between the hours of 11AM and 7PM on days I am allowing myself to eat. I have a bad habit of eating a bunch of food right before I go to bed and I’m going to kill that habit.
A positive thing is I work a full-time job and I am busy throughout the entire day. I couldn’t even imagine trying to diet if I had nothing to do all day, I commonly eat just out of pure boredom. If I was constantly out of the house and busy, I would not have gained any weight in the first place. I’m sure a lot of you would agree with that.
Exercise & Diet During These 12 Weeks
At this point in time I think all of us are signed up to a gym right? We just let it deduct itself from our bank accounts every single month when we don’t even go. Well that will change tomorrow because I am going to the gym again. What is good about my gym is it is only $19.95 a month to go and it also has multiple locations that are very convenient for me. I have a gym right by my work and I have a gym right by my house. I plan on going to the gym right after work and then when I go on weekends I will go to the one by my house.
Here’s my exercise plan for now:
Week 1 to Week 4 – I am going to be doing only Cardio and no Weight Training at this point. I plan on doing Cardio every single day, Monday through Friday, before or after work. I will be resting on Saturday’s and Sunday’s for the first 4 weeks. The majority of my cardio at this point will be at the actual gym. I live in Chicago and it’s going to be cold still for the next couple of months or else I’d be running on a path outside. My favorite cardio to do at the gym is the Elliptical Machine. I set the resistance to about 7 or 8 and just go as hard as I can for 1 hour. I am usually able to burn at least 600 to 700 calories in just 1 hour. I am not a big fan of the treadmill so I probably won’t be using that. I would much rather run outside which I will be doing when it gets warmer outside. If I can stick to this for 4 weeks consistently, I will be in good shape for the next 2/3’s of my weight loss mission.
Week 5 to Week 8 – This is when I am going to start up my Weight Training. I will have more details when this day happens, like my lifting schedule, and also what kind of supplements I’ll be taking. I will also be doing cardio during this time but it might be split in half with the weight training. I am going to be including an extra day in my exercise arsenal, I will be working out Monday through Saturday now. I’m always with my girlfriend on the weekends and I’m going to drag her along with me whenever I get the chance. She is a very slim, beautiful Asian girl so she has always been petite. However, since she has been dating me for the past few years, I have influenced her to put on a couple pounds. Nothing noticeable, but she is also excited to be working out again so it’s good that we are both on the same page.
Week 9 to Week 12 – Well if I have made it this far, I am already ecstatic with my performance. At this point I will be working out or doing some type of cardio for 7 days straight. I will still be fasting for 2 days out of the week but I might switch up which days those are depending on how I am feeling at this point in time. I am going to be putting much more emphasis on weight training but I will still be doing some cardio. At this point, I might even switch my cardio to HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training).
My Goal After 12 Weeks of Intermittent Fasting 5:2
My goals are going to be near impossible to reach but that is my mentality. I want to kick this diet’s ass, I don’t want to barely beat it. I know I can destroy this damn thing as long as I just stick to it and I’ll have no problem sticking to it thanks to having Popular Blog Site to write it all out every single day and keep track of it.
My goal is to:
- Lose 60 lbs in 84 Days
- Fit in a Large Shirt comfortably instead of XL
- Feel Better on a Daily Basis
- Be dedicated for a Healthy Lifestyle
Lose 60 lbs in 84 days? Do you think I am crazy guys? Your damn right I am crazy and if I’m not crazy about sticking to this diet I could be risking my life. I need to get back on track and I need to do it right now. I will create an actual section where you will be able to read every single day of my weight loss journey for the next 12 weeks.
